IRON TAG DEPOT IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS.
A new outfit has set up alongside Florida Shooting Supplies, and we're stamping real military dog tags — the old way. Raised letters, pressed deep into stainless steel on a genuine tag embosser. Not lasered. Not printed. Not a sticker. Stamped.
MEET THE MACHINE
Our embosser is an Addressograph Model 320, built by Data Technology Systems — a purpose-built military dog tag machine, and it does not mess around:
- 60-character steel embossing drum with letters, numbers, and punctuation
- 1/8-inch emboss type, up to 5 lines × 15 characters per tag
- Stamps standard 2″ × 1-1/8″ rolled-edge tags in .015″ stainless steel
- Autofeed hopper holds up to 70 blanks; finished tags eject out the front
- Rated up to 135 tags an hour
- 46 pounds of steel, gears, and intent
Every Custom GI Dog Tag Set comes with two embossed tags, two genuine US military ball chains (long and short) from Ball Chain Manufacturing of Mount Vernon, New York — the sole maker of dog tag chains for the US military — and two silicone silencers. $14 a set.
A PROJECT WITH TEENAGERS ON THE TOOLS
Iron Tag Depot started with a whim of an ancient Air Force guy, shared with his three "adopted" great grand's — and those three teenagers are the workforce. The machine lives at HQ, and it's run by our HQ stamping crew, affectionately known as the 2 E's and an E4. (Ranks are reviewed often and adjusted without ceremony. Mostly downward.)
HOW TO GET YOURS
Day to day, we take orders at Florida Shooting Supplies, 902 6th Street, Holly Hill. Fill out the order form at the counter — or order online and type your lines right on the product page — and the HQ crew stamps your set and brings it up to the shop, ready for pickup in a day.
CATCH US IN THE FIELD
For events, the machine and the HQ crew go mobile. At an event, skip the order line: we stamp your tags on the spot, while you wait, and you walk away wearing them.
